Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ off-pitch earnings revealed amid contract talks
By Charlie Bradshaw — 27 July 2026 — 3 min read
Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, earned over £9 million from image rights during the 2024/25 season. Accounts filed by BF8 Sports, a firm where Fernandes is the sole director, showed earnings of £9.5 million for the period. This represents an increase of £1.1 million from the previous 12 months. The firm also reduced costs by 44%, cutting more than £200,000 from tax and social security, resulting in £9.2 million.
These off-pitch earnings equate to approximately £176,000 per week, in addition to his reported Manchester United wages of around £300,000 per week. Fernandes signed his current contract two years ago this summer, and it has 12 months remaining, with an option for a further season.

Contract Status and Club Stance
Despite the approaching end of his current deal, Manchester United reportedly has no immediate plans to offer a renewal, though this could change during the upcoming season. The club communicated to Fernandes earlier this year that they do not wish to lose him during the current summer transfer window. This follows a period 12 months ago when the club reportedly considered cashing in on the midfielder without informing him.
However, that situation appears to be resolved, with Fernandes reportedly content to remain at Old Trafford. This sentiment is particularly strong after observing signs of progress under Michael Carrick last season. When questioned about Fernandes’ future after the final Premier League match of last season against Brighton & Hove Albion, United‘s head coach indicated no reason to believe Fernandes would leave, noting his enjoyment of playing for the club.
Fernandes himself expressed the significance of playing for Manchester United ahead of this summer’s World Cup. He highlighted the responsibility that comes with representing the club, aspiring to return to the top of the Premier League and European football. He believes players can be the “protagonists of this change of history for United to win again.”
Interest from European Clubs
Juventus is reportedly exploring a move for Fernandes, as Luciano Spalletti seeks to enhance his squad’s creativity and leadership. The Italian club sees Fernandes’ experience in Serie A and technical quality as appealing attributes for their ambition to challenge for major honours. Fernandes has previously played in Italy for Novara, Udinese, and Sampdoria, which could ease his adaptation back to the league.

Sources close to the agents’ industry indicate that Fernandes is among the attacking midfielders being considered by Juventus sporting director Frederic Massara. The Italian club aims to improve the technical level of Spalletti’s squad, with Fernandes offering goals, creativity, and extensive experience. Reports suggest Juventus has explored his situation with his representatives.
However, financing such a transfer presents challenges. Juventus would find it difficult to match Fernandes’ wages and meet United‘s potential asking price, which could range between €50 million and €75 million. Fernandes currently earns around £375,000 per week, with a new contract potentially increasing his salary towards £400,000, making him United‘s highest-paid player.
His current deal also reportedly includes a £56 million release clause for clubs outside England. While Juventus‘ interest appears genuine, Manchester United remains confident in securing their captain’s long-term future. Talks over improved terms are continuing, though a final agreement has not yet been signed. The latest indications suggest Fernandes’ immediate future remains at Old Trafford.
A new contract would make a summer transfer unlikely, as Fernandes is reportedly committed to Manchester United despite overseas interest. United is encouraged to finalise the renewal swiftly, as Fernandes is considered their most productive creator and captain. Losing him during a significant rebuild could create a problem that even a large transfer fee might not resolve.
While Juventus may admire the player, completing a transfer appears unrealistic unless negotiations between United and Fernandes unexpectedly collapse. The Italian club would need to offer substantial wages and pay a significant fee to tempt him away from Manchester United.
